CSTE Exam notes

I have been trying to get a copy of the CBOK for CSTE examination. Can any one help me to get one ?.

I took the CSTE exam on

I took the CSTE exam on Saturday in Chicago. Would agree with you on the Essay questions. I had taken the test in 2001 and passed. This test was much harder than I remembered. I noticed that studying the questions in the original study guide were very helpful for the multiple choice questions. However, I think I will be retaking next year with you because of the Essay questions.

Curious. Did you have all the questions for section 3 of the multiple choice. When we took the test section 3 was missing 18 questions. So much for QA and inspections:)

Actually, the books we have

Actually, the books we have are from last year. Apparently, the CBOK (which is basically the body of knowledge for the test) was thankfully re-written (the old one was bad). However, we didn't get that one here. Sorry, I wish I could help more than this. I will ask about and see if anyone I know has access to an electronic version (PDF, etc.).

Checking Prerequisites : To qualify for candidacy, each applicant must meet one of four prerequisites:

A 4 year degree from an accredited college-level institution and 2 years experience in the Information Technology field (OR)

A 3 year degree from an accredited college-level institution and 3 years experience in the Information Technology field (OR)

A 2 year degree from an accredited college-level institution and 4 years experience in the Information Technology field Six years experience in the Information Technology field

AND

Have worked in the information services field within the prior 18 months

No formal proof of education or employment are required at the time of application; however the candidate may later be required to provide detailed documentation supporting the option selected depending upon a compliance sample selected according to program criteria. If selected for verification, such verification must be supplied to the program prior to sitting for any necessary examinations.

I know a few people who were about to take their CSTE but got tired of the class and requirements and ended up just getting fake diplomas to be able to go out and get jobs sooner then the others in their class.

And that works? There is no way for the employer to check and see if it is or isn't a real diploma? Seems like a lot of money to spend on a 4 or 8 year degree if they can't even keep the fakes out. I mean, what benefit is there to spending all that money when any average Joe can get what you got for 1/10th the price and 1/10th the effort.

Jst read CBOK...That wud easily help you clear ur CSTE exam...But one thing is true... syllabus is too vast..Both in CSTE & CSQA...

I would suggest that u take up the exam only after u have complete(Valid) 2 years of experience...

When u register for the exam u may have to fill in certain information such as Years of Experience u have,Orgainizations u have worked,References.(Note : There's no need to show the proof of ur experience).But then if they cross verify later and u r found guilty(i.e Having less than 2 years of experience) things may go worst.

If you r planning to take up CSTE in september by now you should have registered for the exam...By paying the required fees...$350...After paying the required fees you do get the CBOK(Study Material) online...

Jst make sure u r thorough with CBOK...CBOK is the only source which would help you sail ur exam...

U cant take both the exams at the same time...U need to plan well in advance which certification would you like to attempt first...

As far as the study material is concerned pls register for the exam on www.softwarecertifications.org by paying the required fees to get the latest CBOK...Since u would be taking up the exam in 2010 there are chances that a new CBOK version might be in place...
