Need guidance for successfully clearing CSTE (appearing on 20th Sept 2008)
Hi,
I am engineering graduate and working as a software tester from past 2 years 3 months. Have worked majorly on Manual testing.
I am appearing for CSTE certification on 20th Sept 2008 but due to some work and family reasons was unable to prepare for it much. Have completed reading only first 3 chapters of CBOK. Also I do not want to defer from appearing this time. So could you pls guide me on how to go about preparing and clearing CSTE in this short duration of a month. Your reply will be really really of great help.
Many thanks in anticipation,
Sapana

Hi Sapana
The prep time is indeed short, I would recommend that you go through CBOK atleast 3 times and try to answer as many questions as you can
Download this question bank CSTE Question bank
Join mailing list like on yahoogroups there is a cste group. there you can ask some experts.
There are some subjective answers on this website under qa articles section, make sure you go through that.
While answering the questions its good if you make reference to the CBOK or quote something from CBOK. Try to add from your experience.
Bottomline is you have to be well versed with theory and what is the right thing to do as per CBOK. Your experience may sometimes conflict with theory as not all organizations are perfect
Hope this helps

Submitted by csqa on August 30, 2008 - 5:21am.Hi,
Thanks alot for your guidance and help.
I have finished reading CBOK once, but yesterday itself when I was trying to solve subjective questions.. I am all blank... First, cannot re-collect anything read from CBOK and second have lost touch with writing describtive answers (after completing engineering in 2004)
Also would like to know that, i have some set of mock papers from 2003-2006 and most of the subjective questions are similar type, so does it mean that we can expect such questions even this time?
Do we have option to solve 10 subjectives out of, say 12 questions or all are compulsary?
Each objective carries how many marks and is there any negative marking system?
I just hope I clear it.. :)
Thanks again.
