Hello,

Request to clarify the below from CBOK

 "Quality – Customer View

Meeting requirements is a producer’s view of quality. This is the view of the

organization responsible for the project and processes, and the products and services

acquired, developed, and maintained by those processes."

What i understand is that the customer view of quality is satisfying the needs whether it meets the requirement or not. But I am confused with the above statement in KD1. Please clarify

Producer is the company that

Producer is the company that is producing the product. So if you are a software development company , the producer's perspective is to meet all the requirements specified by the customer. Isnt that what you do at work?, meaning completing and testing whether all requirements are fulfilled in software before you deliver to the customer.

However when you are the customer, you dont care whether all the requirements are met, you want the end product to work fine. For eg if you buy a TV, you may have all requirements met, but after couple of years if the TV goes bad then its not a Quality product according to you. So customer delight or satisfaction is customer's view of Quality.

I dont have CBOK with me now

I dont have CBOK with me now but from 2nd line onwards it is Producer's view:

Customer's view is "Fit for use". the following is in CBOK

  • Recieving the right product for their use
  • being satisfied that their needs have met
  • meeting their expectations
  • being treated with integrity, courtesy and respect
