What programmiong skills should a tester have

Hi everyone,
I would like to know how much does a tester(fresher) earn in India.
Will knowing mysql be of any help
OR
Should I concentrate on learning languages(java,.net)
Which is the better option. Please help as I am confused.
I would suggest pick the line which interest you the most and you think you will be able to excel. dont go by Salary. You will get money eventually.
